- General Millsreported Fiscal 2026 second quarter and 6 month results reflecting decreases in net sales and operating profit . The North American Pet Segment include 8% net sales growth for the first 6 months however operating profit growth reflected a 9% decrease due to higher input costs and SG&A expenses. - KVP International, a global provider of veterinary consumables, diagnostics and patient care products, has acquired SafePath Laboratories and IVD Research (known as SafePath -IVD), a diagnostics manufacturer, and contract development and manufacturing organization. (com)
- Ophirex, a public benefit corporation developing novel treatment for snakebite envenomation, announced that they have received MUMS designation from the FDA for varespladib, as an oral rescue treatment for snakebite envenomation in dogs. (com)
- Lowe’s, a US home improvement retailer, has launched a private-label brand of pet care products for dogs and cats called Heart & Herd.(com)
- Vetr,a telehealth platform and FDA-registered drug manufacturer, announced the availability of over-the-counter ToltraMax, an oral toltrazuril solution to support intestinal health in animals affected by coccidia. (com)
- TheMyristol brand of joint- support formulations has been acquired by Vet Custom Label. (com)
- VolitionRXannounced the elimination of the CEO position of Volition Veterinary Diagnostics Development, a subsidiary, effective January 31, 2026. The decision is part of the company’s cost-realignment efforts. (com)
- Rockbridge, a private equity firm, announced that their portfolio company Prosites, a provider of marketing and website services, have acquired GeniusVets. The acquisition will combine with Prosites’ Lifelearn (finance.yahoo.com)
- EG- Alveo Technologies, a molecular diagnostic company, has formed a strategic partnership with Global Animal Healthin a broad scale deployment of its Alveo Sense Poulthry Avian Influenza test across Egypt. (com)
- EU- Dechrahas introduced a new pack size and packaging for its Mirataz product. (com)

- CA/UK- REGULATORY EFFICIENCY- The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and the United Kingdom’s Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate in the regulatory oversight of veterinary biologics, including animal vaccines. (Canada.ca)
- JP- STEM CELL MEDIUM- Researchers from Osaka Metropolitan University have engineered a stem cell medium that enables a fully canine culture system. ( eurekalert.org)

Reading a commentary on equitable investment in the veterinary workforce reminded me that One Health encompasses animals, people, and our planet.
Animals are fellow species sharing and being affected by genetic, environmental and behavioral forces just like us. Which explains why, horses are now being looked at as natural models for cardiac adaptability as well as the gut-brain axis and why two neurosurgeons ( one from veterinary and one from human) teamed up for brain surgery on a dog recently. My current dog, Tara, has introduced me to the remarkable service dog world as a volunteer for ICAN. I have seen firsthand genetic effect on breeding and training, but also the life changing impact these dogs have on their primary trainers (incarcerated individuals) and ultimately their matched clients at graduation.
I’m grateful to all species and am honored that I work in the wonderful world of animal health- I’ll end the year with my favorite quote about animals.
