COMPANY EARNINGS RELEASES
> Pethealth Inc. reported results for the first quarter of 2012. The company reported revenue of $9.7 million, an increase of 21% increase compared to the first quarter of 2011. Net earnings were $1.2 million, doubling from the comparable period in the prior year. (Veterinary Practice News)

> Mars Petcare US announced a voluntary recall of three Pedigree weight management canned dog food products due to possible contamination with blue plastic fragments that inadvertently entered the food during production. (AVMA SmartBrief – AnnArbor.com)
> MEXICO Lohmann Animal Health announced the opening of its 18th subsidiary, in Mexico. The new subsidiary, Lohmann Animal Health Mexico SA de CV, is located in the state of Jalisco. The Mexican subsidiary will be a distribution site only, with no production on-site taking place. (WorldPoultry.net)

> US – EEE Eastern equine encephalitis (EEE) was confirmed in two South Carolina horses in June. A 10-year-old horse from Horry County and a 4-month-old horse from Marion County recently tested positive for the disease. (TheHorse.com)

We hope all of you in the US had an enjoyable 4th of July holiday and that you’ll all be back to work next week ready to start the third quarter. As I mentioned last week, we’ve been in the Midwest where it has been extremely hot and dry, which is negatively impacting the crops. The weather forecast for the coming week is a bit more promising for heat and rain.
Have a great weekend and be supportive of those experiencing power outages in the Northeast and fires in the Mountain States. The smoke from the Colorado fires has now reached the skies of South Dakota and many other states.
