BRAKKE CONSULTING VIEWPOINT
Brazil remains a powerhouse in veterinary medicine, fueled by robust growth in both companion and farm animal sectors. To stay ahead, veterinarians are increasingly turning to specialization. Currently, two-thirds of Brazil’s veterinarians have completed or are pursuing post-graduate education, reflecting the profession’s commitment to continuous learning. While expertise is well-distributed nationwide, with strengths in the North and Central-West, the Northeast offers untapped potential. Here, programs promoting advanced training are poised to elevate professional standards.
Younger veterinarians, aged 39 and under, lead the charge in specialization, showcasing a dedication to excellence that bodes well for our industry’s future. Among self-employed veterinarians, 48% without service contracts are seeking advanced qualifications to unlock new opportunities, while 21% with contracts are also enhancing their skills. These trends signal a promising outlook for veterinary education in Brazil and underscore the need for ongoing investment in specialization to maintain our high standards.
As we navigate this evolving Latin American landscape, Brakke Consulting stands ready to provide insights into Brazil’s veterinary market. Contact us to explore how we can support your strategic objectives in this dynamic industry.

YOUR VIEW
Last week, we asked your thoughts on veterinary telemedicine. Most of you (58%) think that it should be allowed under an existing veterinary-client-patient relationship; another 27% think it should be legal only under strict limits. 10% think it should be allowed with only a virtual VCPR, and 6% think it should not be legal at all.
