Brakke Consulting is pleased to announce the appointment of Randall (Randy) Freides to its team of consultants, an addition that will bring new capabilities to the company while strengthening the firm’s leadership position in the animal health consulting industry.
Freides is a veteran finance executive who has worked in both the human pharmaceutical and veterinary medicine fields, having spent nearly 29 years with Merck & Co., Inc. in a number of financial leadership roles. Most recently, he served as Executive Director, Financial Planning and Analysis, North America, for Merck’s animal health business.
Brakke Consulting President Dr. Robert (Bob) Jones says that Freides brings a new set of financial skills and expertise to the Brakke group, along with experience that cuts across companion animal, livestock and aquaculture markets.

We believe that his work in developing go-to-market and promotional strategies in the animal health industry will be of great value to Brakke clients,” Jones says. “He is an expert in analyzing business results and developing financial forecasts, and we are fortunate to add Randy to our team of consultants.”
While with Merck’s animal health business, Freides helped double the size of Merck’s US business, including participating on the launch team for Bravecto. He was responsible for maintaining a strong financial and operational control environment within Merck Animal Health’s North America business, and he also led financial reporting for Intervet Inc., Merck’s U.S. legal entity with revenues in excess of $1 billion.
“Over a long pharmaceutical career, Randy built a consistent history of providing strong financial leadership to commercial operations in the human pharmaceutical and veterinary medicine industries, and we look forward to offering his expertise to Brakke clients,” Jones states. “His experience in financial controller roles spans all geographic areas globally, providing our clients multi-market financial operations support.”
Freides holds a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Tufts University and a Master in Business Administration in Finance and Operations Management from Columbia Graduate School of Business at Columbia University. He can be contacted at rtfconsultingllc@gmail.com.
