I couldn’t help but read the many tributes to Dolly Parton this week. I do not have any stories to tell about her other than she owned a small cottage in Solvang, California, which is in the Santa Ynez Valley where I grew up and where most of my family still lives. But the story of her life is amazing and something that we can learn from.

Aprendemos com essas homenagens o quão gentil, atenciosa e generosa ela era com todos, não apenas com seus colegas da música e do cinema, e não apenas no final de sua carreira de grande sucesso. Ela foi assim a vida toda. Dolly tinha o que considero as duas chaves para o sucesso: autoconhecimento e autenticidade. Ela não nasceu em berço de ouro, sua educação parou após o ensino médio, talvez tenha tido sorte, mas ela parecia trabalhar duro, construiu relacionamentos maravilhosos com as pessoas e claramente sabia reconhecer oportunidades na indústria do entretenimento.

Mas, no fim das contas, Dolly Parton era uma pessoa talentosa e genuína – ela sabia quem era e nunca se desviou disso. Ela era capaz de construir confiança e era autêntica ao extremo. Sua vida nos lembra que saber quem você é, ser fiel a si mesmo e tratar bem as pessoas podem ser alguns dos alicerces mais duradouros do sucesso – na vida e nos negócios.

Last week we asked you how AI has changed the way you work with external experts in the animal health industry. Half of the respondents said that AI has made them more efficient but hasn’t reduced their need for external expertise. 28% said that AI can’t replace human expertise in any area and 22% said that combining AI with my own experience has allowed me to rely less on external experts. Obviously that last group has never met a Brakke consultant. Ha!
