- US – University of Arizona researchers published a recent study which chowed the Cognitive Assessment for Neuropsychological Impairments in Dogs (CANID) can catch subtle cognitive impairment in dogs earlier. (earth.com)
- US – The Bureau of Land Management announced the completion of a wild horse gather in the Sulphur Herd Management Area in western Utah due to the decline of range conditions and protecting the long-term health of the herd. (blm.gov)
- NÓS - A published study examining the barriers to bacterial culture and susceptibility testing for canine superficial pyoderma revealed that cost for both clinic and client may be the leading barrier. (aaha.org)

Transparência de preços: você paga exatamente o que vê.
No final do mês passado, passei alguns dias de férias na Alemanha e na França. Assim como nos EUA, a Europa enfrenta inflação e custos mais altos – eu estava preparado para que essa viagem pudesse nos custar um pouco, mas fiquei agradavelmente surpreso com o que vivenciamos. A área que mais me surpreendeu foi a gastronomia. Achei muito apreciada a transparência nos preços das refeições. O custo da refeição SEMPRE correspondia ao preço do cardápio – a gorjeta era totalmente opcional e só podia ser dada se o pagamento fosse feito em euros ou se eu informasse ao garçom o valor total desejado ao usar um cartão de crédito. Ao pagar com cartão, nunca havia uma taxa de processamento “adicional” pela conveniência e nunca havia um valor de gorjeta “sugerido” para eu considerar. Aqui nos EUA, é difícil encontrar esse tipo de transparência de preços na maioria dos lugares. Mas existem algumas clínicas veterinárias (tanto de grandes redes quanto independentes) que estão tentando implementar isso. Para algumas, é uma forma de incentivar a participação em planos de associação, destacando as “economias” que os membros recebem, e para outras, pode ser uma maneira de diferenciar seus serviços da concorrência. Em uma economia com inflação e preocupações com os custos, a transparência é mais valorizada do que nunca.
