A new study from Brakke Consulting takes an in-depth look at flea, tick and heartworm products, the largest segment of the companion animal market.<\/p>\n

\u201dThe flea control and heartworm preventatives market has been one of the most innovative areas in animal health, with a variety of new active ingredients and novel formulations,\u201d said Lynn Fondon DVM MBA, Brakke Consulting Senior Consultant.\u00a0 \u201cSales of flea control products continue to grow, and the newest generation of oral flea and tick products are transforming the landscape once again.\u201d<\/p>\n

The study, The US Flea Control and Heartworm Markets<\/strong>, profiles the veterinary and OTC markets for flea and tick products and heartworm preventatives, including veterinary product sales and pricing. The report includes detailed information on the introduction and subsequent performance of generic versions of the Frontline\u00ae and Advantage\u00ae flea and tick products.\u00a0 It also provides a look at products launched this year, including Simparica Trio\u00ae and Bravecto Plus\u00ae; the launch of generic competitors to Revolution\u00ae; and the launch of Amazon\u2019s house brand of fipronil spot-on. Additionally, parasiticides that are in the pipeline and expected to reach the US market in the next 2-3 years are discussed in the report.<\/p>\n

The report \u2013 published annually by Brakke for over two decades \u2013 gathered information from a variety of sources, including published information, industry interviews and a survey of 335 small animal veterinarians and 500 pet owners.<\/p>\n
