Isso parece representar uma eros\u00e3o justamente daquilo que costumava substituir a regulamenta\u00e7\u00e3o nos mercados de servi\u00e7os profissionais: a reputa\u00e7\u00e3o pessoal\/local.<\/p>\n<p>Historicamente, a confian\u00e7a no veterin\u00e1rio funcionava como um mecanismo informal de mercado, pois o veterin\u00e1rio era uma figura conhecida na cidade, cujo sustento dependia da reputa\u00e7\u00e3o local, e n\u00e3o da carreira. Em mercados pequenos, a not\u00edcia se espalha rapidamente, e o veterin\u00e1rio arcava pessoalmente com o custo reputacional \u2014 um forte incentivo para evitar pre\u00e7os abusivos ou tratamentos excessivos. Quando a propriedade passa para uma rede apoiada por capital privado, esse mecanismo se desfaz: os pre\u00e7os nem sempre s\u00e3o definidos localmente, a marca da cl\u00ednica local, antes confi\u00e1vel, agora est\u00e1 inserida em uma estrutura de propriedade e incentivos diferente, e a reputa\u00e7\u00e3o pessoal se dilui por toda a corpora\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\n<p>N\u00e3o se trata de uma quest\u00e3o de &quot;mercados que funcionam versus mercados que falham&quot;, nem de &quot;veterin\u00e1rios corporativos n\u00e3o serem confi\u00e1veis&quot; \u2014 a confian\u00e7a no profissionalismo individual dos veterin\u00e1rios permanece alta em todos os setores, segundo o relat\u00f3rio.
